Which area of the film industry do you think new technologies have had the biggest impact on and why?
I think the biggest area of the film industry have had the biggest impact on is all three which is production, distribution and exhibition. This is because they all help contribute massively to the social world that it is today. The production creates the whole movie with all the latest technology like CGI and motion capture which then goes on to distributing the product, the latest technology has massively increased how a film becomes promoted with the invention of the internet it has allowed insitutions to become a media congloramence and use cross media. The internet has allowed synergy where the film has now got access to go on that just being a film and having new products which you can promote like toys and games. Exhibition has increased dramatically with so many new ways to allow viewers to view films. New gadgets like the smartphone has allowed people to watch films on the go without just having to go to the traditional cinema. They also have created blueray which offers high definition on a film which can be bought, the price is about the same price as you would pay to go to the cinema which means its very cost effective. The invention of a 3D TV also means people no longer have to just go to the cinema to see a 3D film the new technological convergences has allowed people to experience watching the films in the comfort of their own homes.
